چکیده

ethods: We administered two versions of a probabilistic selection task to 40 schizophrenia patients and 31 control subjects, using difficult o verbalize stimuli (experiment 1) and nameable objects (experiment 2). In an acquisition phase, participants learned to choose between hree different stimulus pairs (AB, CD, EF) presented in random order, based on probabilistic feedback (80%, 70%, 60%). We used analyses of ariance (ANOVAs) to assess the effects of group and reinforcement probability on two measures of contingency learning. To characterize he preference of subjects for choosing the most rewarded stimulus and avoiding the most punished stimulus, we subsequently tested articipants with novel pairs of stimuli involving either A or B, providing no feedback.

Selective reinforcement learning deficits in schizophrenia support predictions from computational models of striatal-cortical dysfunction.

BACKGROUND Rewards and punishments may make distinct contributions to learning via separate striatal-cortical pathways. We investigated whether fronto-striatal dysfunction in schizophrenia (SZ) is characterized by selective impairment in either reward- (Go) or punishment-driven (NoGo) learning. METHODS We administered two versions of a probabilistic selection task to 40 schizophrenia patients...

A dopaminergic basis for working memory, learning and attentional shifting in Parkinsonism.

Parkinson's disease (PD) patients exhibit cognitive deficits, including reinforcement learning, working memory (WM) and set shifting. Computational models of the basal ganglia-frontal system posit similar mechanisms for these deficits in terms of reduced dynamic range of striatal dopamine (DA) signals in both medicated and non-medicated states. Here, we report results from the first study that ...

Evaluation the protective effect of aminoguanidine on cortex and striatum damage in acute phase of focal cerebral ischemia in rat

Introduction: Several studies have indicated that late treatment of aminoguanidine (AG) reduces cerebral ischemic injuries in animal models. However, the effects of early treatment of AG on cerebral ischemic damage are not well understood. This study was designed to evaluate effect of early treatment of AG on cortex and striatum injuries as well as neurological dysfunctions in transient mode...

Comparison effect of pentobarbital sodium with chloral hydrate anesthesia on post-ischemic damage in an experimental model of focal cerebral ischemia

Introduction: Anesthetic agents, blood pressure, arterial pH and blood gases have found to influence on the pathophysiology of experimental stroke. Despite, there are very few comparative studies about effects of anesthetic agents in animal model of cerebral ischemia. Therefore, in this study, we investigated the effects of chloral hydrate and pentobarbital anesthesia, as comparative study, on...

Deficient reinforcement learning in medial frontal cortex as a model of dopamine-related motivational deficits in ADHD

Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is a pathophysiologically complex and heterogeneous condition with both cognitive and motivational components. We propose a novel computational hypothesis of motivational deficits in ADHD, drawing together recent evidence on the role of anterior cingulate cortex (ACC) and associated mesolimbic dopamine circuits in both reinforcement learning and A...
